Indulgent Twist: How to Make Chocolate Covered Granny Smith Apples with Peanut Butter Drizzle at Home

Updated: Mar 11, 2024

Ingredients:

- 6 large granny smith apples

- 1 cup of dark chocolate chips

- 1/4 cup of creamy peanut butter

- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil

- 1/4 cup of chopped peanuts (optional)

Instructions:

1. Begin by thoroughly washing and drying the apples. Slice each apple into rings and remove any seeds.

2. In a double boiler or a heat-safe bowl set over a pot of simmering water, melt the dark chocolate chips.

3. Once the chocolate is completely melted, add in 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and stir until well combined. This will help make the chocolate smoother and easier to coat the apples.

4. Dip each apple ring into the melted chocolate, using a spoon to help evenly coat the apple. -Place apple rings onto parchment paper

5. Repeat this process with all apple rings and then place the parchment paper in the fridge for the chocolate to harden. This should take about 30 minutes.

6. While the chocolate is setting, prepare the peanut butter drizzle by placing 1/4 cup of creamy peanut butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds until the peanut butter is melted and smooth.

7. Once the chocolate has hardened on the apples, remove them from the fridge. Using a spoon, drizzle the melted peanut butter over the apples in a zig-zag pattern.

8. If desired, sprinkle chopped peanuts over the peanut butter drizzle for added crunch and texture.

9. Place the apples back in the fridge for another 10-15 minutes for the peanut butter to set.
